Stansbury Coastal Walking Trails
The Stansbury Progress Association welcomes you to the Stansbury Walking Trails.
Established by the Association in stages, a total distance of 6.3kms. Along the coast line, from the town jetty
to Pitts Cutting south of the township, the trails have been completed for your enjoyment.
The trails provide walking, cycling and disabled access to our coastal reserves, with rest areas and lookout points
along the way.
Stage 1
(Wheelchair access)
A return walk of 2.7km., constructed in 1995 with financial assistance from CoastCare. This trail links the Foreshore
Caravan Park
and the town Cemetery.
This walk offers great views of Gulf St. Vincent, the Adelaide Hills and Giles Point jetty and silos. The ore carrier
"Accolade" can be seen daily sailing from Adelaide Brighton Cements' Kliens Point Quarry crossing the
gulf to Birkenhead.
From the beach walk, Pelicans and Black Swans can be seen gracing the shallow waters daily. Interpretive signage
of the many different bird species is set out along the trail.
The native vegetation in this area was destroyed by fire in 1994 and has been re-established with natural germination,
and some re-planting by the Association.
Stage 2
(Wheelchair access)
1.2kms. of paved pathway from the town jetty to the Foreshore Caravan Park which was completed in 1999.
Dolphins can often be seen gracing the shallow waters of the bay in the early morning and late afternoon.

Stage 3
A return walk of approximately 2.4km. via the beach side or cliff top trail.
An extension of Stage 1, this trail commences adjacent the turn around point at the end of Stage 1 walking trail
behind the Stansbury Cemetery.
This new section was developed in 2001 as a Tidy Towns Project on behalf of the Association,
and takes approximately 50 minutes to complete.
Appreciate the elevated coastal views from many vantage points along the cliff top.
During late Winter and Spring, natural vegetation can be seen in full bloom.
Mills' Gully Lookout
(wheelchair access)
Situated on the northern town boundary, this area was originally the town rubbish tip until the 1960's and was
re-developed for the Stansbury Progress
Association by the Green Corps Group in 2001.
This project also incorporated the removal of feral Alepo Pines and re-vegetation of the area.
View Oyster bay, Gulf St. Vincent, the Stansbury jetty and township from the cliff top. A great photo stop.
Interpretive signage depicts some brief local history, and a rustic picnic setting amongst the natural bush completes
this small reserve.
