Support for rural communities has never been greater than
in recent years. As a consequence, there are some of opportunities that Ardrossan Community Hospital Inc. can use
to improve its ability to provide quality health services to the community and to increase its financial viability.
Ardrossan Community Hospital has been successful in gaining Commonwealth funding to assist in the redevelopment
of the existing hospital allowing for the building of additional rooms and the upgrading of the present facility.
The Hospital was also successful in gaining a further 16 bed licence together with the accompanying capital funding.
Additional finance has recently been gained to assist with the funding of this redevelopment from the sale of farming
land known as the "Dinham Trust". This land was left jointly to the Hospital and Anglican Church. After
negotiation between the parties, a decision was made to sell the land with the Hospital's share of proceeds being
applied to the redevelopment project.
People wishing residence in this new facility will need to be ACAT assessed before being accepted. Residents of
the new Facility will not need private health cover.
Most of the new rooms, including the dining and lounge areas, will have panoramic sea views of Gulf St. Vincent
and will overlook a proposed landscaped area associated with the established cliff top walking trail. All rooms
will have en-suite bathrooms.
Residents requiring a safe and secure environment will be accommodated.
Construction of the new 16-bed wing has commenced and is anticipated to be completed by mid December, 2003. The
facility will offer prospective residents excellent nursing care from our highly qualified and committed staff.
